PERSONAL.
Mr J. A. Laurensun, of the firm of Hornsby and Laurenson, land brokers and. commission agents, has been appointed agent for the Public Trustee in the South Wairarapa, says the Carterton "News." The death occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday of Mr Thos. Joyce, a very well-known and generally resoected old resident of Masterton. Th 3 deceased was a native of Whitechapel, London, and emigrated to New Zealand in 1872, Prior to that he was engaged in transport waggon driving between Texas and Toronto, North America, and there had some exciting experiences with Indians. The late Mr Joyce bad reaided in Masterton ever since his arrival in New Z?alancL He was engaged in waggon driving over the Rimutaka before the railways advent, and later took lip building. He married the widow of the late Mr J. Paige in 1874, and leaves a wife and six children, besides two step-child-ren. The funeral takes place at 2 o'clock to-morrow.
