SPORTS MEETINGS.

GLADSTONE. (Special Reporter). Fine weather favoured the anrniar meeting of the Gladstoone Spores Club, which was held yesterday in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Messrs W. and J. Strang, of Glenside. attendance was good, visitors being present from all parts of the W *irarapa. The gate takings amounted to over £l2. Competition in the various events was very keen, particularly in the horse division, in which much interest was taken. Excellent entries were received for the foot ev°nts, <>nd good finishes were witnessed. Masterton runners were very successful at the meeting 1 , particularly R. McKenzie. The Competition Cup presented by Mr D. Douglas (to be won twice in succession or three times at intervals) which was won las'- year by Mr W» Strang, was this year accounted for by Mr R. Morrison's "Rata." The Cup presented by the settlers of Longbush for the most points in any event was won by Mr A. Hodge. A word of praise is due to the secretary, Mr S. Dalgleish, and to the judges and officials for the competent way in which carried out the tasks allotted to them. The results are as follow: RUNNING. District Maiden Race, of 150 Yards.-A. EKETAHUNA MOUNTED RIFLES SPORTS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The sports held yesterday by the Eketahuna Mounted Rifles were a great success. There was keen competition, and some very close finishes were witnessed in some events. The judging, was carried out by "the officers, gave every satisfaction.
