PAHIATUA NEWS.
(From Our Resident Reporter). Thursday. A pleasant social took place in the Scarborough Schoolhouse last evening, visitors b°ing present in large numbers from town and the surrounding districts. The floor was in excellent order, and good music was supplied by Miss N. McGowan. Extras were played by Miss Mcßratney and Mr Hicks. Refreshments in abundance were generously supplied by the Scarborough ladies, and Mr J. Wilds made a capable M.C. Arrangements are wMI in hand for the Presbyterian Sunday School picnic, to be held at Mr Robertson's farm, Konini, to-morrow. Drags to convey parents and children will leave the Sunday Schoolroom at 10.30 a.m. Several Pahiatua residents have signified their intention of travelling to Masterton to-morrow to witness the aquatic sports on the Lake at the Park Oval. The Pahiatua cricketers will leave for Palmerston North by the 9 o'clock train to-morrow morning to play against a Palmerston North eleven. As they have been practising every evening of hate, it is anticipated that they will give a good account of themselves. The Post Office question is still the subject of discussion amongst both ■ town country residents. Mr H. A. Thomson, bookseller, ha 3 just landed a complete stock of school books and sc/hool requisites,
and calls attention to p.?.re;]Cs in'erested in another column. A social will be held in the Ksitawa Hall on Friday evening.
