PROPRIETARY MINES' CASE. DIFFICULTY OF PROFITABLE WORKING. Received January 20, 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, January 20. The Broken Hill Proprietary Comparry has filed in the Federal Arbitration Court an answer to the union's claims. It contends that the wages ruling in one mine should not necessarily rule at the rest, and if the old rate continued difficulties would be placed in the way of profitably working the mine, considering the amount and nature of the ore remaining in the mine. The increased cost of treatment would fall on che price of the metals.
