BRITAIN'sTIAIN DUTY. APPEAL TO ORGANISE. A REMARKABLE RESPONSE'. Received Juratory 20. 9.16 a.m. LONDON, January 19. Mr R. B. Haldane, Secretary of State for War, speaking at Halifax, said the nation ha:l made a remarkable response to the Government's appeal to organise for defence. Though personally he believed that peace would continue, Mr Haldane said it was the nation's plain duty to prepare for war.
