PERSONAL.
Mr John Hessey left Masterton yesterday afternoon for Wellington en route to the West Coast. At Wellington Mr Hessey will be joined by Mr D. J. Cameron. Both gentlemen will be absent for some time on business, connected with the gold-dredging industry. Mr Hessey informs us that it is probabie that one or more dredging companies will be formed at an early date alter certain areas have been thoroughly tested. The death of a well-known and highly-respected resident of Masterton, in the person of Mrs Bennington, of Wrigley Street, occurred at the Masterton Hospital yesterday. The deceased passed away at 5.30 n.m., after lingering for nine days. Death* was caused by apoplexy* The late Mrs Bennington was a very old colonist, coming to New Zealand nearly thirty years ago. She was 53 years of aye, being born in Victoria in 1855. The deceased leaves a husband (Mr G. C. Bennington), two daughters and two sons—Mr N. J. Bennington, of the "Dominion" staff, Wellington, and Mr G. E. B. Bennington, of Port Molyneux, Otaeo. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the family's -residence, Wrigley Street, at 2 o'clock.
