(From Our Own Correspondent). ELECTRIC LIGHTING. The preliminary work in connection with *;he installation of electric light is well in hand. The Borough workmen are engaged the site for the power house, the contract for which was secured by tat b. Bartlett at £521 10s. " The Mayor (Mr A. IT. Herbert) has been appointed clerk of works, with authority to call in expert advice. The contractor intends to make a start with the erection of the building next week. It is expected that the light will be turned on before the end of March. MOUNTED RIFLES. The Eketahuna Mounted Rifles pitched camp on Mr Smith's property on Masterton Road on Thursday. The spot chosen is an ideal one for the purpose, being well sheltered and drained, which is fortunate, considering the bad weather that has been experienced during the past two days. The following are in camp:—Captain Browne, Instructor; Regimental S.M. Burr, Captain Herbert (unattached), Captain Page, Lieuts. Prendeville and Farmer, and about forty non-coms and men. The following acting appointments have been made Troopers Raehleigh and Matthews to be Corporals.
