CRIES FOR HELP. PERSONS BURIED ALIVE. VALUABLE' PROPERTY RECOVERED. ROME, fo'nHary 15. Troops at Messina for three days fruitlessly in places \"?hc?e cries for help were heard, only ceasing when the voices were silent. Three million pounds' worth ot property has been recovered, also Greek sculpture and pictures in the Museum, and duplicates of the Civil Register. FURTHER RESCUES. MANY BODIES STILL UNBURIED. Received January 17, 4.30 p.m. ROME, Jarftary 16. Rescuers at Messina found under the ruins yesterday a boy of nine. He told them tb'at his sisters, aged 20 and 12 years, respectively, were j also alive. Both were forthwith extricated. All of them have subsisted for nineteen days on onions, wine, oil, dried figs and water. Their mother was crushed to death during the earthquake. Their father was in America. Many bodies are still lying unburied in the street, and the odour is terrible, though immense quantities of disinfectants are arriving daily, and are actively used.
