The ground,, was heavy for the match. In the first half ' play was even, and Gavin obtained an unconverted try for Australia. In the second half Hickey and McCable scores tries for Australia, the latter's being converted. Bristol secured a try. SCOTLAND v. ENGLAND. TROUBLOUS TIMES. Received January 14, 8.50 a.m. LONDON, January 13. The Scottish Rugby Union has cancelled the fixture with England because the English Union sanctioned payments to the '-'All Blacks" and the "Wallabies" of a guinea a week each, besides expenses. The Scottish committee are unanimously of opinion that these payments were contrary to the principles of amateur football, and amount to professionalism. THE ANGLO-WELSH TEAM. ITS DAILY ALLOWANCE. Received January 14, 10.10 a.m. LONDON, January 13. The Scottish Union complains that the Anglo-Welsh team which visited New Zeaalnd in 190S received daily allowances.
