ACCUSE COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. Received January 11, 10.2 a.m. SYDNEY, January 11. The young man Williams has been committed for trial on the charge of murdering Johnston, whose body was found in the Namoi river on ISth December. The evidence showed that Williams sold the horses and the outfit with which he and the dead man had previously travelled. The police found the body of Johnston on the bank of the Namoi, with the brake-block iron of a waggon strapped round it. In the top of the skull was a hoie an inch and a quarter in diameter, and behind the ear another abrasion. The doctor who was called to view the body gave it as his opinion that a ghastly murder had been done, the wounds having evidently been inflicted by a hammer or like instrument. Johnston was a travelling saddLr, and had passed through the town of Wee Waa in a two-horse wagonette, with a young companion, a few days before the murder. His companion, Williams, was arrested at Pillapa, about thirty-six miles from Wee Waa.
