THE NEW MINISTRY.
MR MURRAY PREMIER
Received January 8, 9.13 a.m. MELBOURNE, January 9. The new Ministry has been formed as follows: Hon. J. Murray. —Premier, Chief Secretary, and Labour. Mr W. A. Watt.—Treasurer. Mr P. Mcßride.—Mines. Mr A. A. Billson.—Education. Mr G. Graham —'Agriculture a/id Railways. Mr H. M'Kenzie—Lands and Water Supply. Hon. W. L. Bailleu.-Works. Hon. Drysdale Brown.—AttorneyGeneral. Messrs J. Thompson and E. H. Cameron join the Cabinet as Honorary Ministers. THE FIRST DIVISION. LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR THE SPEAKERSHIP. Received January 8, 0.30 a.m.' MELBOURNE, January 8. In connection with the election ot Speaker, Mr F. Madden and Mr W. D. Beazley were proposed. Some of the Labour members objected to Mr Beazley getting the appointment. They declared that important times were coming, and the Labour Party would need his vote, and every vote it could muster. The Labour leader appealed to his colleagues to vote for Mr Beazley. When the division was taken nine Labourites left the Chamber. Mr Madden was elected by 38 votes to 16.
A Supply Bill was passed, and the House then adjourned till February 9tn.
NEW ZEALAND LAND LEGISLATION.
Received January 8, 10.10 a.m. MELBOURNE. January 8. Mr M'Kenzie, the new Minister of Lands, will visit New Zealand to study the Dominion's land legislation, especially with regard to taxation and compulsory purchase.
