The "Mataura Ensign" records the death of Mrs Terry, who settled at Gora in 1873, when, besides herself, Mrs Brannan an;l Mrs Syme were the only adult residents. Mr W. P. James, S.M., who spent his y3ar-end holiday at Nelson, returned to Masterton on Thursday, and resumed his official duties yesterday. Mr and Mrs J. M. Coradine are to be entertained at a garden party at the Masterton Bowling Green on the 14th inst., prior to their departure on a tour of the world. " Mr Coradine is Prasident of the Bowling Club. At St. Mary's Church, Carterton, on Wednesday last, Miss Jessie Hickson was married to Mr T. F. Sullivan. Miss Maud Hickson was bridesmaid, and Mr D. Sullivan, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Mr Peter Gordon, junior, who left Masterton yesterday morning for Glasgow to take up the study of medicine, was the recipient from the members of Knox choir, of which he was an old and valued member, of a silver-mounted pocket wallet and fountain pen. The presentation was made on Thursday evening by the Rev. A. T. Thompson, who expressed the heartiest wishes of the choir for Mr Gordon's success in his university career.
