MASTERTON STOCK SALE.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd , report as folliws on their Masterton stock sale held yesterday • Stock came forward in excess of advertised numbers, over 2,000 sheep sheep being yarded, besides a good entry of cattle. At the start of the sale .buyers weie inclined to be cautious, evidently waiting to see how "the cat was likely to jump" with the result that the first few pens wera passed at auction. Later on those operating opened out with the result that we met keen competition for good lires of two-tooth wethere, which s« Id readily at prices in favour of vendors. We have to report a total clearance of both sheep and cattle at improved prices, the beneficial rains of late and the abundance of grass enabling buyers to operate with confidence. We quote:— Tattle —Forward 3-year-old steers, £5 lis; 3-year-old steers, £4 7s 6d; 18-month steers,. £2 16a; mixed 18-month cattle, £2 lis to £3; cows in calf, £2 lis to £3 10s; 18-month dairy heifers, 35a; calves, lis. Sheep—-2-tooth wethers, lis 3d to l : 's 2d, for extra good line in forward condition; 2-tooth Lincoln ewes, i3s 3d to 13s 6d; 2-tooth Romney ewes, 13s 6d to 13s id; cull ewes and lambs (ail counted), ,6s 6d; cull wethers, 10s Id; cull -wes, 9s 3d.
