(From Our Own Correspondent). Monday. The shortage of railway truu<s lias been keenly felt by thuse sending away wool from this district this season. The present showery weather has brought signs of the potato blight. Its appearance is reported by several settlers here. ' Mr R. Miller (Avondale) has still about 750 sheep to shear. This fine flock is in first-class condition, and are clipping very heavy fleeces. Mr Miller has been kept back in his shearing by the rain, which is also hampering the harvesting, as several crops of hay are still in the ground. A heavy north-westerly gale sprang up about 9.30 yesterday morning, doing a lot of damage to fruit trees. The large pear trees seemed to sutler most.
