ROBBED IN A BANK.

FIFTY POUNDS STOLEN

A messenger employed in tne Treasury Department had £SO stolen from him in the Bank of New Zealand Wellington, yesterday morning. He had been sent to the bank to cash two cheques—one in the name of the Government and one from a Government officer. He cashed the Government cheque (for £SO) first, and received £4O in eovereinps and £lO in silver. He put the bag containing the mones on the counter alongside him. and hairJed over the other cheque for payment. When he turned round the £SO and the bag had disappeared. The matter has been reported to tha poli.re.
