LAWN TENNIS.

MASTERTON v. CARTERTON

The following p'ayers have been selected to play against the Carterton Club on the local courts on Saturday next :-Ladies—Miss M. H. Payton, Mrs J.. 15. Henry, Mrs A. Caselberg, Miss Whitcombe. MenMessrs A. R. Sclanders, S. R. Gawith, J. B. Moodie, F. H. Elcoate, H. W. Riahworth, N. H. James. Should any of the above named ba unable to play the hon. secretary must be notified at once. Competitors are requested to proceed with the Men's Handicap Singles, first and second sjrade, and Ladies' Handicap singles, without further delay.

CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING AND HANDICAP TOURNAMENT. PROGRAMME OF EVENTS. The Masterton Lawn Tennis Club will hold it 3 annual Tournament on the Club's Courts on Friday and Saturday, January 22nd and 23rd, iao9. The programme of evei.ts is as follows:—1. Men's Championship Singles, best of 3 sets; trophy value £1 10s, runner-up 10s. 2. Men's Championship Doubles, of 3 sets; trophies value £1 Is each. 3. Ladies' Championship Singles, best of 17 games; trophy value £1 Is. 4. Combined Championship Doubles, best of 17 games; trophies value £1 Is each. 5. Men's Handicap Singles, 60 points; trophy value £1 Is, runner-up His 6d in each class. 6. Men's Handicap Doubles, 70 points; trophies value £1 Is each in each class. 7. Ladies' Handicap Singles, 50 points; trophy value £1 Is. 8. Ladies' Handicap Doubles, 50 points; trophies value £1 Is each. 9. Combined Handicap Doubles, 50 points; trophies value £1 Is each. Nos. 1 and 2 to be. played advantage sets, and Nos. 5 and 9 advantage points. Entries must reach the secretary on or before Friday, January 15th, 1909.

Play will commence at 9 a.m. each day, five courts to be used. It is anticipated that some of the leading players of the Dominion, both ladies and men, will compete.
