TO FIGHT SOCIALISM.
The Anti-Socialists of Great Britain are, writes the London correspondent ot the Sydney "Daily Telegraph," embarking upon a remarkable campaign against Socialism and Labour. Of course, Socialistic ideals have alwaysjbeon fought in the United Kingdom with much vigour, but up till now all of the organisation appears to have been on the side of Socialism. At present the Socialists are holding meetings at the rate of two thousand a week, and their two principal organisations, the Independent Labour Party and the Social Democratic Party, have 1,100 branches. The former alone spends about <£75,000 a year, and the ex-
penditure on Socialist organisation and propaganda in Great Britain is estimated to reach nearly a quarter of a million sterling annually. The new Anti-Socialist Union invites tha co-operation of both Unionists and Liberals, although how f.ir the
two oIJ parties in British polities will combine against Labour's forces remains to be seen. Probably it will be found, just as it has been in Australia, that a considerable time will elapse before an efficient fusion is brought about.
