Second heat: C. Miley, 1; E. Pretty, 2; W. L. Herold, 3; Third heat: J. Hartnet, 1; J. Harwood, 2; G. Bucklowsky, 3. Pinal: D. Pretty, .1; Newstroski, 2; E. Pretty, 3. Time, 3min 3 2-ssec. C. Miley (the Australasian champion) never looked like winning. The double-handed sawing championship of Australasia resulted:— Johansen arid Johmton, 1; Beckham and Osborne, 2; Casey and Pretty,. 3. Time, 23,4-ssec. The World's Championship Chop—D. Pretty (Hamilton), 1; S.John-' son (Gisbornfi), 2; G. McCauley (Taumerunui);, 3; J. Newstroski, 4.. A feature of this contest was the powerful chopping of R. D. Pretty and the excellent performance of; Johnson, who, though he struck a knot, and spoiled two axes, chopped into second place. Johnson is a Tasmanian, who won a few minor events there, and started in New Zealand, wood two years ago. Miley struck hard wood and was left behind. Time, 4rr>in 48 2-ssec, comparatively slow.
