PERSONAL.
Mr G. F. Gee has resigned his position as manager of the National Bank at Wellington, and it is understood that Mr J. G. Stott will succeed him. Mr and Mrg Gee and family will leave for England in March next. Miss Flora Hodges, of Napier, has been appointed to the position of second assistant of the Timaru Girls' High School. There were 22 applicants for the position, eleven of whom were M.A.'s and nine B.A.'s. ~ A quiet wedding took place a Porangahsu on December 16th, when Mr Guy Powell, of Wanganui, was married to Miss Eunice Sidwell, second daughter of Mr R. J. Sidwell, of Porangahau. The bridesmaids were Miss Alice Morgan and Miss Grace Sidwell. Mr Michael Andrews, brother of Mr Andrews, of the law firm of Messrs Joynt and Andrews, Christchurch, died in that city on Sunday. The deceased was 65 years of age. He was for 25 years a member of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, and for some time manager of the Wanganui Branch. When the headquarters of the bank were at Auckland he was accountant there. The deceased leaves a widow and one son, resident in Wellington. The Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) has not yet made definite arrangements with respect to his trip abroad. He has, however, decided to leave for England via Suez early in March. The amount of travelling which he will undertake will depend upon the state of his health, which usually suffers somewhat as a result of long journeys. Sir Robert hopes to be able to visit various portions of the Continent, also America and Canada. It is probable that he will be absent from the Dominion until the following February. He will be accompanied by Lady Stout and Miss Stout.
