DUNEDIN NORTH SEAT.
THE PARLIAMENTARY RECOUNT.
MR BARCLAY TAKES ACTION. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, December 21. The latest phase in the recent Dunedin North Parliamentary recount is that Mr A. R. Barclay to-day decided to proceed by election petition. Mr Barclay states that the issue is narrowed down to three questions, viz, justified in striking off votes for Mr Barclay on the ground of dual voting; (2) was Mr Barclay entitled to one or more votes which were treated as informal; (tf) was it right to accept absent voters' votes for Mr Thomson and reject those cast for Mr Barclay, The petition is filed on the basis of the number of votes recorded being the same as was found by the Returning Officer on the official recount.
The question of missing votes arises in no way.
Under the Act a special Court of two judges has to be appointed by the Chief Justice to hear the petition.
