PROFESSOR RUTHERFORD.
BANQUETED AT STOCKHOLM. Received December 15, 8 a.m. STOCKHOLM, December 14. Professor Rutherford has been banqueted at Stockholm. M. Trolle, Swedish Foreign Minister, warmly complimented Professor Rutherford on securing the Nobel prize. Professor Rutherford was born at N-lson, New Zealand, and was appointed Langworthy Professor and Director of Physical Laboratories at Manchester last year, atter a distinguished career. He has made valuable discoveries in .connection with radium and in other branches of physical science. He was recently awarded the Nobel prize—about £B,ooo—for chemistry.
