PROSPECTS FOR THE POULTRY FARMER.
i Pr ospects for the poultry farmer at the present time are exceedingly bright—in fact, brighter than they, have been for a long time past, and the tendency is for conditions to become even more favourable from the producers' point: of view. From an export point ot view the past season has been of but trifling consequence, as, owing to the high price of feed, there has been a scarcity of supplies, not only as far as New Zealand is concerned, but in regard to Australia also. The production has been on a limited scale, and the demand has been fully equal to what has been produced, and at very good prices. For instance, good-con-ditioned hens are at the present time bringing as high as 5s 6d per pair, as against 2s 6d and 2s 9d per pair in former years. And with a further fall in the price of feed, and a resultant drop in the price of poultry, the demand will increase with the production, so that farmers have excellent prospects ahead of them for some time to come.
