SENIOR MATCHES. j CARLTON v. UNITED. EASY WIN FOR CARLTON. (By Cover Paint). A match was played on the Park Oval on Saturday iast, under the auspices of the Wairarapa Cricket Association, between the t.arlton and United senior teams. The weather "Was fine and the wicket in good order. Carlton batted first and ran up the respectable total of 219. Of this number Moss contributed 49 by free >.hitting, including some neat strokes. :His score included six 4's and a 6. :E. Welch was the next highest scorer •with 43. He played well for his ■runs, and after he had made 20 hit ■out. He hit five 4's and seven 2s. While Moss and Welch were* associated .they carried the score from 104 to 174 for the ninth wicket. The last wicket (Aymes and E. Welch) put on 45 runs. A. Hoar (25), W. Lett (17), T. Hoar (17, including a hit for 6), t. Welch (16), Aymes (13 not out) also batted well. . . JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP. ST. MATTHEW'S v. MURICEVILLE. St. Matthew's and Mauriceville met on the Schoolground on Saturday.
