The Hjh. C. M. Luce, Chairman of the Wellington Hospital Trustees, delivered an address, and mentioned that the immediate demands upon the Trustees would be from twenty tu thirty thousand pounds.

NAPIER AND HASTINGS. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DEMONSTRATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. NAPIER, December 13. The annual collections under the auspices of the United Friendly Societies in aid of the Napier Hospital funds were made in Napier on Saturday. The weather was broken, but cleared towards the end of the day. The Societies are holding a demonstration at Hastings to-day, where the weather is unsettled. Two special trains were run from Napier. The Hospital Trustees have this year undertaken the erection of a new Home for Nurses and a ward for chronic sufferers. A reconstruction of the main building is contemplated at an early date, and a special appeal for contributions has in consequence been made to the public. It is believed the response will prove to be very satisfactory.
