AQUATIC CARNIVAL.
ON ANNIVERSARY DAY. \ MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. An enthusiastic meeting of the Aquatic Carnival Committee was held last evening in the Council Chambers,when reports of the various sub-committees were received dealt with. The programme for the carnival was finally arranged. It is full of attractive events, including a 220 yards Wairarapa Championship. There are 13 open and 6 Club events, besides a large number of amusing races and schoolboys' handicaps. The full programme will shortly be advertised, and should attract record entries.
The Wairarapa Amateur Swimming Club wrote stating that the members intend doing all in their power to make the carnival an even greater success than the last, and the conduct of all the swimming events will be left in their charge. It is anticipated that some of the best swimmers in the Dominion will be competing at the carnival. Mr S. A. Noble-Campbell has kindly donated a valuable cup to be given as the prize for the Championship Race.
Mr J. Yarr has also made a substantial donation to the prize fund.
A committee to canvass for prizes has been appointed, and it was decided to ask the members of the Ladies' Swimming Club to assist in various wayß,
As the object of the carnival is to raise funds to further extend and beautify the Park and Lake, the public will no doubt give the committee every support and make the function an assured success.
