ALLEGED CATTLE STEALING.
A NAPIER CASE. By Telegraph—Press NAPIER, December 9. Samuel Beswick and William Boult appeared in court to-day charged with stealing forty-four head of cattle irom Runanga station, Tarawera, valued nt £l9B. A man named Brewer has also been arrested at Taupo on a charge of being implicated. From information available it appears that Reed and Keene, owners of the Dtation, left on a trip to England in February, and gave power of attorney to Mr Beere, solicitor, Wellington, Beswick being left in charge of the station. Mr Beere paid a visit to the station, and as the result of information received he communicated with the police. Detective iiill journeyed to Tarawera. passing en route a mob of 44 cattle driven, by Boult, who was placed under arrest, together with Beswick. Other charges are pending. Accused were remanded, Boult being allowed bail in two sureties of £250 each, and self £IOO.
