LAND REQUIRED FOR OPAKILANSDOWNE WATER SCHEME.
The interest in the land necessary to be acquired in respect of the Opaki-Lansdowne Irrigation and Water Supply Scheme will, according to a written statement by the Engineer for the scheme —Mr G. Laing-Me:]son —to the City Council be the same as in the Upper Plain scheme. That interest is, on the water-race scheme, the riyht of entry on to a strip of land, say 25 links wide on each side of the centre line of the water races, for the purposes of the construction of and reoairs to the works. In the case of Lansdowne similar provision must be made for the pipe line when it traverses private land, and a small area must be purchased for the site of the reservoir at the golf grounds, the freehold of another small parcel must be acquired, near the dam, for the iilter and rams. The site for the reservoir will probably contain ons-sixteenth to one-eighth of an acre, and for the filters, etc., about an acre and a quarter.
