Miss Hill, pupil teacher at the Eketahuna School, terminates her engagemsnt with the Education Board at the end of the present yeajr.

The Rev. w. J. rilliott, of the Methodist Circuit, Carterton, is attending tha Synod at Wellington, which meets to-day.

Messrs A. Booth, J. Brown, M. Maxton, J. VV. Nix, M. Koss, and W. Udy have been re-elected as members of the South Wairarapa Hospital.

Mr Clement Wragge, the wellknown meteorologist and astronomer, in ort his way from Calcutta to the Dominion, to engage in a lecturing tour. 4

Miss Ensorn, who has been closely associated with the kindergarten movement in America, has been appointed kindergarten of the Dunedin Association.

Mr Elliott, of Melbourne, has been appointed engineer to the Taieri Drainage Board for three years, at a salary of £750 per annum. There were fifty-five applicants. 1

The Rev. Rupert Fairbrother, of Inverell, New South Wales, who has been spending a few weeks in Carterton with his relatives, left by the mail train for Wellington yesterday, to catch the steamer Maheno, in which he is returning to Sydney.

A Press Association message states that William Hill, a carpenter, who was found unconscious at the bottom of a steep bank, on Sunday, having apparently lain there sonia days, died at the Wellington Hospital this morning.

Mr A. Murray, of Alfredton, who sustained a rather severe shock to the system as a result of a trap accident a few weeks ago, is now mending slowly. He is able to gtt about, but it will be some months before he will be fully recovered from the effects of the accident.

Mr A. T. Ngata, M.P., arrived in Auckland on Saturday, after cjmpleting a very extensive tour of his very big electorate. He has gone into a private hospital for the purpose of undergoing an operation. Though painful, it is not anticipated that the operation will be of a serious nature, or that Mr Ngata will b .> long indisposed.

Mr H. Marshall, of the New Zealand Insurance Company, who has been promoted to the position of manager of the company's Napier branch, was farewelled on Saturday afternoon at the Auckland Fire Underwriters' Rooms by the chief clerks of the various fire insurance companies in Auckland. Mr A. C_ Baker, on behalf of the subscribers, presented Mr Marshall with a case of silver mounted pipes, and wished: him every success in his new position.

A pretty wedding took place at the residence of Mr R. B. Church yesterday afternoon. The contracting parties were Miss Maud Church, second daughter of Mr R. B. Church, of this town, and Mr William Wilson, eldest son of Mr George Wilson, of Wellington. Mr George Wilson, junr., acted as best man, the bridesmaids being Misses Lilian and Ethel Church, sisters o'i t.he bride. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. N. Buttle. A large number of valuable presents were received. Mr and Mrs Wilson left for Welling** ton this afternoon en route for Auckland, where they are to reside.
