AXEMEN'S CARNIVAL.
AUSTRALIAN CHAMPION TO COMPETE.

The secretary of the New Zealand Axemen's Association has received a cable stating that Charles Miley, a Victorian, champion axeman of Australia, will leave Sydney to-day to compete in the championship event at the Eltham Carnival. Miley la&t year defeated Gus Blanc twice in succession, and won the Melbourne Handicap from scratch. In the in 2ft standing blocks, which this year was allotted by the Australasian Association to the Eltham meeting, Miley will be opposed by prominent New Zealand axemen.
