RAILWAY ARRANGEMENTS.
STATIONS RE-NAMED. An interesting announcement was made yesterday by the Railway Department in respect o£ the names of the Wellington railway stations when the Government takes over the Wellington and Manawatu Company's line on Monday. The present Manawatu terminus is to be known aB Thorndon station, and the present Government station is to be called Lainbton. A notification is also made by the department that all goods and parcels traffic from or to stations, Ashhurst to New Plymouth inclusive, and from or to the Main Trunk line to or from Wellington and stations to Petone, inclusive, will bejconveyed via the Manawatu lipe, goods and parcels traffic fr@m or to Wellington being dealt with at the newlynamed Thorndon station. Goods and parcels traffic to and from Napier line from or to Wellington will be conveyed via the Rimutaka line. All traffic which is to pass over the Manawatu line must be sent to the Thorndon goods shed—Manawatu Company—for despatch.
