A HEARTY SEND-OFF,

WELLINGTON, December 3
About a thousand persons were at the wharf this afternoon to see the Hon. W. Hall-Jones off by the Corinthic for London, for which place Mr Hall-Jones leaves to take up the duties of High-Commissioner for New Zealand. All the members of the Ministry in town, several members of Parliament, and many heads of departments were"on the wharf. Mr Hall-Jones was heartily cheered as the steamer moved off. Presentations were made to hi*n and Mrs Hall-Jones by the members of the Cabinet this morning, Mr Hall-Jones receiving a gold sovereign case and his wife a gold crescent brooch. One of the last acts of the High Commissioner in New Zealand was to visit the grave of his, former (the late Right Hon. R. J. Seddon, premier).
