According to Mr Seed, for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Wellington, not a few of the cruelties inflicted upon horses in the city can be traced to the "sweating" of certain employees. A man is given a certain time to carry out a contract for insufficient horses to negotiate a difficult grade, and the result is that the in his anxiety to carry out his task, often imposes hardship on his^horses.
