NAPIER WOOL SALES.
GOOD PRICES REALISED. KEEN COMPETITION. By Press Association. NAPIER, December 1. The first wool sale of the season was held to-day when over 6,700 bales were offered. There was a large attendance of buyers from America, England, Continent and southern and local mills. A feature of the sale was the keen competition for all lots of woo? suitable for the American market, and for best qualities of fine crossbreds, prices ranging from lOd to J2Jd. Coarse crossbreds also showed considerable ri3e in prices as compared with closing rates of September sales, and equal to the prices obtained in this market at the December sale of 1907. The condition of the wool throughout was much better than it was last year, being better grown and in splendid order. A few lots showed that no care had been taken in skirting. The following is the range of prices obtained:—Fine cro?3breds r good, lOd to 12£ d; medium Bdto 9|d; inferior, 6sd to7£d; coarse crossbreds, 7d to B£d ; medium, s|d to 7d; pieces, first quality, 4|d to s£d; second quality, 3d to 4Jd; locks, lid to 3d.
