"MRS WIGGS OF THE CABBAGE PATCH."
I - Behind the "make up" of the quaint types that figure in the play "Mrs Wiggs of.the Cabbage Patch," which Mr J. C. Williamson will present at the Town Ball on Wednesday, are some interesting peculiarities. Miss Ada Dwyer, who has scored such a success in the title role, has an established position in America as a character actress. For four seasons she supported Miss Eleanor Robson. She was, also, the original Miss Leadbeater in "Merely Mary Ann" in London. For several years Miss Dwyer was with Liebler and Co., and she has, also, worked under the banner of Mr Charles Frohmann. In New York, also, the name of Miss He'en Lowell is well-known in theatrical circles. Her impersonation of Miss Hazy shows the sacrifice she is prepared to make to art; Miss Lowell was the original Folly Love in "The Christian," when Hall: Caine's play was produced in America. Of no lesser professional standing is Miss Helen Raymond, who depicts artistically the unattractive Mrs Eichorn. For eight years she has enjoyed an all. round experience across the Paci-1 fie,, and is proud of having been associated with the late Augustus Daly, one of the> greatest producers America has seen. Mr J. W. Smiley is an actor of wide -experience, and |Mr John Webber, the Scubbins of ithe cast, is a repre icntative character actor, who has in the course of a :successful, career supported Miss ■Blanche Bate* under the Belasco management. The excellent booking at Miss Rive's is"a fairly good estimate of the gejieual interest taken in this uncommon production. The box plan is now open at Miss Rive's, and is filling rapidly.
