MARATHON RACING.
A NEW ZEALAND PROPOSAL. AUCKLAND ENTHUSIASTIC. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 30. At a largely attended meeting of the Auckland Amateur Athletic Club, held to-night, it was decided to hold a New Zealand Marathon race of a distance not exceeding 15 miles, to take place in March next. The meeting was most enthusiastic, and points to a revival of amateur athletics in Auckland. It was suggested that the prize for the Marathon race be a silver laurel wreath. It was also decided to apply to the New Zealand Athletic Association for permisson to hold the race. About forty new members were proposed for the Auckland Club, the annual meeting of which will be held on December 14th.
