EMPLOYERS AND EMPLOYEES. MELBOURNE, November 28. At the Chamber of Manufacturers' Conference, it was resolved that the existence of friendly relations between employees and employers would be of advantage to the manufacturing interests, and should voluntarily be encouraged by fair an d reasonable wages, and comfortable and safe conditions of employment. STATE COALMINE. ADELAIDE, November 28. The Legislative Asssembly passed a Bill authorising the Government to purchase a State Coalmine at Maitland , New South Wales. ACCIDENTS AT A LIGHTHOUSE. SYDNEY, November 28. Webling, keeper ot the Althorpe lighthouse, accidentally shot himself through the body, the wound being serious. Two days later another keeper named Sandall was signalling or assistance when a rocket burst, severely injuring him. A third keeper succeeded in attracting the attention of a vessel, which took the wounded men off. QUEENSLAND SUGAR RETURNS. BRISBANE, November 28. It is estimated that there will be shortage of 30,000 tons in the sugar crop, due to frost and vermin.
