CHARGE OF ASSAULT.
MINISTER COMMITTED ' FOR TRIAL. Received November 26, 10 a.m. THURSDAY ISLAND, Nov. 26. Advices from Daru, Papua, state that the Rev. Baxter Riley, of the London Missionary Society, was committed for trial on a charge of assaulting a coloured teacher working under him. It is al eged that Riley was challenged, and struck the teacher, hurting his neck. The teacher, suffering from pneumonia, died three weeks afterwards.
