Mr J. G. Gilberd, the superintendent of the Napier Fire Brigade, returned from a visit to England on Wednesday. Mr Jens Nilsson, an old settler of Eketahuna will leave next week for the Wairoa district, where he has purchased a farm. At Parkville on Wednesday Mr Earnest Timmins, second son of Mr W. Timmins, was married to Miss M. Angove, daughter of Mr Angove of Newman. The passengers by the Arawa, due from London next week, include Mr and Mrs Alan Strang and Miss D. Strang, of Palmerston North, and Mr and Mrs J. D. C. Crewe, of Pahiatua. Mr D. Robertson, Secretary to the •General Post Office, and Mrs Robertson will leave in a few weeks on a six months' visit to the Old Country. They will travel via Canada, and subsequently visit Leipsic, where their" son a Rhodes Scholar, is studying, The Hon. VV. Hall-Jones left Wellington for a farewell visit to Tiraara last evening. He will return on Sunday. His office as High Commissioner commences on Monday, and he will leave for London by the Corinthic on Thursday. The death occurred, yesterday morning, of an old Pahiatua settler in the person of Mr W. Porter, eldest brother of Colonel Porter, aged 71 years. The deceased, who had resided in Pahiatua for over twenty years, leaves a widow to mourn her loss. % Miss Igoe, only daughter of Mr James Igoe, of Pahiatua. died on Wednesday evening after a short illness. The deceased was 23 years of age, and wa3 very popular in Pahiatua She had been in the employ of Mr Allan Campbell, draper, of Pahiatua, for four years. The relatives will have the sympathy of a large circle of friends m theis bereavement. The death is announced of Mr George Anderson, the eldest son of Mr George Anderson, an old Wellington resident. Deceased met with a slight accident to his foot last week, and blood poisoning developed, causing death on Tuesday. Mr Anderson, who was 42 years of formerly in the employ of Mess rs Levin and Co., and latterly was on the local shore staff of the ShawSavill Company. Miss Alice Hunter, third daughter of Mr T. Hunter, t)f Masterton was married yesterday to Mr Harold Richards, fifth son of Mr P. Rich•ards, of New Plymouth. The ceremony took pla:eat the residence of the bride's parents, the Rev. J. N. Buttle officiating. Mr H. Stringer was best man, Mr A. Richards acting as groomsman. Miss Ada Hunter was bridesmaid. A reception was afterwards held, and also a social gathering in the evening. A large number of valuable presents w ere received.
