It had been said that he was too old for political life, but he took this earliest opportunity of asking them to back him at the next efection. He hoped when Mr Dillon retired from public life he would be able to say that he had served his constituency as faithfully and as well as he had done. By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 25. The "New Zealand Times"£points out in reference to the local option polls that clause 14 of the Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Act provides that in'districts where there has been an increase of 25 per cent, in population a proposal to increase the number of licenses must be included in the ballot paper. This has not been clone, and it is understood that the matter has been referred to high legal authorities, and it is suggested that it may be necessary in some districts to take fresh polls as provided for in section 16 oi the Licensing Acts Amendment 1904.
