EXECUTION OF SATYENDERA. NO DISTURBANCES. Received November 23, 8.41 a.m. CALCUTTA, November 22. batyendera, who was concerned in the murder of Gossain, the approver, in the prison hospital at Alipur, at the end of August, was hanged at Calcutta. Orders had been given that the cremation of his remains, after the capital sentence had been carried out, should take place within the gaol precincts, but with the view of outwitting the tremists in Calcutta constructed an effigy ofj Satyendera, intending to carry it to the river-side after the execution. The authorities, however, posted notices forbidding the procession. Crowds of women gathered at the river-side, expecting the ashes to be taken there after cremation, but the authorities refused to sanction this. There were no disturbances. Received November 24, 1.8 a.m. CALCUTTA, November 23. Sayendra's effigy was burned in secret in many houses with the usual Bengali rites and customs. Students in Northern Calcutta held a demonstration to his memory.
