SON SHOT TO SAVE HIS MOTHER.

A terrible domestic tragedy occurred at Lyons (France) on September 24th, when M. De Rousset, a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor, ;and a well-known resident of the district, deliberately shot his son dead -with a revolver. The young man suffered from fever while in lndoChina undergoing his military service, and since his return home showed signs of serious mental derangement. He became violently insane, and, after arming himself •with a carving-knife and driving :a way the servants in terror, turned upon his mother, who sought to pacify him. She screamed, and M. De Rousset entered the room in time to save her life, though not to -.preventher being wounded, as the son had already struck her in the week with the knife. Seeing there was no time to be lost, the father took his revolver from his desk, and, firing twice in rapid succession, blew out his son's brains.
