PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

AN INSURANCE SCHEME,

By Telegraph—Press Association DUNEDIN, November 17.

.At the Presbyterian assembly this morning the Rev. Mr Morrison moved the adoption of the report of the Fire Insurance Committee, who were instructed by last year's assembly to gather data in - connection with a scheme to enable the Presbyterian Church to establish a fire insurance fund and insure its own church properties. The general principle of the scheme submitted is that of guarantees, no money being called from the guarantors except in the event of such losses as ordinary current revenue cannot meet..

The committee sought power to ask guarantees up to £IO,OOO from Presbyterians, and outlined a scheme under which the fund would be controlled by three ministers and five laymen, who would levy amounts payable by the churches to the fund as premium, effect reinsurances with insurance companies J f considered desirable, and generally manage the fund for the Assembly. It was resolved to approve the scheme and urge people to support it.
