To Whom it May Concern. 7"E give this solemn warning chat , / Ave are in a position to detect any attempt at BOGUS VOTING on the Polling Day, and have instructed our scrutineers to instantly challenge the names of which they have a record. We have a large list of names that no one in this electorate lias any right to vote under, some being absent, some not in existence, etc., etc. NOTE —Any person voting under a false name is liable to be instantly arrested by the Returning Officer without warrant and punished at the hands of the Law for Corrupt Practices. Following is a copy of a letter sent to each of our scrutineers :—"Masterton, November 13th, 1908. Dear Sir,—l enclose your official appointment as scrutineer, also a copy of scrutineer's instructions. Under separate cover I send a copy of the Electoral Eoll for special use in the polling booth. All the names marked in red ink have been officially removed from the roll. All those marked in blue pencil we desire you to challenge by addressing the Deputy-Eeturning Officer, asking him to put the questions. He will then ask, "Are you the person who is named on the Eoll ? Have vou voted before during this election ?" You must not speak to any voter. While the questions are being asked you will please take note of the person and the time they come to vote, and send a report to me with your other returns as per printed instructions. Thanking you in anticipation of your able assistance.—l am, faithfully yours, JABEZ BRIDGES."
