•S EKEfAHUNA STOCK SALE.
Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report as follows on their Eketahuna stock sale, held yesterday Probably the largest sale yet held in the district was held by the combined firms yesterday, the event being the inaugural Spring Cattle Fair. Sheep, however came forward in large numbers. Our entry in this respect being confined to Mr William Cross, of Alfredton, annual draft of 900 mixed hoggets, which sold at lis, the culls making Bs. We had a very large entry of cattle, including a number of grown bullocks, which were showing the effect of the late winter. The attendance was very large, including buyers from the Manawatu and Wairarapa, residents in the vicinity of the Lake being represented. With the exception of one line of very low conditioned steers and a few odd lots of mixed cattle, we bad to report a total clearance . We quote.* —3 and 4-year bullocks, £4 10s to £5 2s 6d, according to quality and condition; 2£ to 3-year steers, £4 to ~£4 ss; 2-year steers, £3 5s to £3 10s; empty cows, 229 6d to £2 ss; speyed heifers, £2 5s to £2 10s; dairy heifers, £2 2s 6d to £2 15s; Shorthorn bulls, £4 10s to £5 ss; Jersey bulls, £lO 10s to £l2 12s; dairy cows, £4 to £5 10s. Sheep—Mixed hoggets, lis; small ditto, Bs. Pigs—Weaners (black Devons), 265.
