WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:—No wool was offered, all now coming to beinc held for the opening sale of the new season on November 13th. We offered 3,000 skins, 400 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and Horsehair. Wool —We quote—Medium cro&sbred 3&d to 4id, inferior 2d to 3Jd, lambs' wool 4d to 4.id, pieces and locks Id to 3d, good crutchr.igs 3d to 3Jd medium erutchings 2jfd to 3d, seedy and inferior lid to 2fd. Skins —There was strong competition, and prices ware firm at last sale's rates. We quote—Fine crossbreds 5d to 6Jd, crossbred 4d to 5f d, dead skins 2d to 4d, dead hoggets 2d to 3£d, dry pelts Id to 3R green skins 2s 6d to ss, lamb skins 6d to Is each. Tallow—Firm. Parcels in shipping order £23 10s, tins £lB to £2l 10s, rough fat £lO to £l4. Horsehair— Is to Is 3d per lb. Horns-5s to 17s 6d per hundred. Cowtails —ls 3d to Is 6d per dozen. Hides—Only a moderate quantity of hides were offered, but were a good selection. The market was steady, and all offerings were quitted at full current rates. We quote—Ox hides (heavy) s}d to sid, ox hides (medium) 5Jd to sfd, ox hides (light) 4d to 4|d, cow hides 4d to 4£d, cut and slippy hides 2d to 3i'J, £tag hides 2£d to 3Jd, bull hides 2d to 3JI, caif best 6d to 7£d, calf cut and slippy 2d to 4Jd. Our next sale will be held on Friday, November 20th. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows:—Our sale was well attended by buyers, and prices were on about level of last sale's for sheepskins and hides, of which we offered a good catalogue. We offered a small quantity of tallow, prices for which were r*ather weaker. We quote : Sheepskins—Halfbred and fine crossbred s|d to 6d, coarse and medium 4|d to 5Jd, dead and damaged skins Id to 4|d, pelts 2Jd to 3|d, green skins 3s lOd to 5s each, green lambs Is to Is 2d each, green pelts Is 2d each. Hides—Ox medium 5d to 5Jd, ox light 4Jd to 4id, cow 3|d to 4|d, damaged hides 2Jd to 3£d, calfskins sound 6d to 6£d, calfskins damaged Id to 4|d. Tallow—Shipping parcels ot medium mixed 22s to 235, odd packages 17s 6d to 20s. We hold our opening wool sale of the season next Friday, catalogues for which ciose on Tuesday, 10th instant. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., held their fortnightly sale of skins, hides and tallow on the 6th instant, when a large catalogue of skins and a fair one of hides was submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Competition, especially for skins and calfskins, was brisk throughout the sale. They report:—Wool—There was none offering, it all being held over for the first sale of the season on the 13th instant. Sheepskins— The market showed an advance of about Jd per lb, bidding being very keen. Price 3 realised were as follow—Halfbred s|d to 6fd, fine crossbred s£d to 6id, crossbred 4£d to s|d, crossbred shorts 3£d to 3|d, crossbred dead 3£d to 4|d, crossbred seedy 2Jd to 4d, crossbred broken 3fd to 4Jd, hoggets s|d, pelts 2Jd to 3Jd, lambs 4Jd to 5Jd, lambs inferior 3d to 3K stragglers IJd, crossbred salted 3s 9 i to 4s Bd, crossbred green 4s 5d , to 5s 6d, lambs damp 7d to Is Id. I Hides—On prime lots offering mar-j kel showed an advance of Jd to Jd. i Calfskins in particular were in good > demand. Prices realised—Ox 49-65 lb3 4Jd to sgd, 25-291ba3fd to 4Jd, slippy 2Jd. Cow, -36-53bs 4£d to 4£d, dry hides 3|d to 3£d, calf best 6|d to 7£d, medium s|d to 6id, inferior and cut 3Jd to 4&d. Horns—13s 6d per hundred. Cowtaiis—ls 5d per dozen. Tallow—ln casks 225, drums 20s 6d to 21s, tins 20s 6d.
