IN a previous article the failure of No-License in Ashburton has been shown, and it is now intended in a brief manner to show the working of Prohibition in America. In Portland the number of arrests for drunkenness in 1903 was 218*3. In Biddeford the number of arrests for drunkenness in 1906-07 was 422. In Rockland, with a population less than Palmerston North, 349 arrests in 1907. In Lewiston, in 1907, there were 539 arrests. In Augusta, 1907, there were 265 arrests. In Bangor, in 1907-8, there were no less than 2,513 arrests, all for drunkenness.
