CARLTON v. W.F.C.A
(By Cover Point). The match between Carlton and W.F.C.A. wa3 concluded on the Park Oval yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the former by nine wickets and 6 runs. W.F.C.A. commenced their second innings with Caselbtii'g and Flail. Moss opened the bowling to Hall, ana got the latter with the first hall. Swan filled the vacancy, but Moss bowled him with the last nail ot the over without a run having scored. Rothenberg joined Caselberg, and the latter scored a single off E. Welch. A maiden, followed to Moss. Rothenberg then notched 3, but in Moss' next over he retired.— 3 for 4. Congdon joined Caselberg, and the pair stopped the rot. Both batsmen shaped nicely, but at 15 Muss bowled Caselberg, who had made 7 by neat cricket. Robertson became associated with Congdon, and 20 was up when Congdon retix*ed bowled by Moss, with a carefully compiled 6 to his credit. Welch and Robertson became partners, and the best stand of the day was witnessed. Robertson hit out in fine style, and mainly through his efforts 43 was up before Welch was bowled by Carley. Pragnell did not stay long, being howled by Madsen at 46. Robertson and Smith made a serviceable stand," and carried the score to 56 before the former was unfortunately run out. Robertson had 20 to Jhis credit, and he played good cricket for his runs. His score included three boundary hits. Smith and Hooper were the last batsmen, Hyde being absent. Smith infused some life into the play, and laid the willow on in good style, with the result that 75 was reached before Hooper retired bowled by Styles, after having made 8. Smith had 15 to his credit. His score in--1 eluded three boundaries. Moss again showed himself to be a.consistent wicket-taker, his average being 5 wickets for 5 runs. He was practically unplayable at times. Up till the ninth over he had taken Jive wickets without a run having Jbeen scored off him. Requiring 31 to win, Captain Welch sent in Voyce and F. Welch to face the bowling of Swan and R. Welch. Nineteen was up before R. Welch bowled F. Welch, who had .scored 5. Madsen became associated with "Voyce, and the pair banged the bowling about, taking the score to 36, stumps then being drawn with Carlton the victors. RIVALS v. CARTERTON. The Rival-Carterton match was concluded on the Park yesterday afternoon, and resulted in a win for the latter by an innings and 27 runs. The Rivals' second innings closed for 97. Thynne was responsible for 50 of this score. He played a dashing innings, and kept the field busy all the time he was at the wickets. His score included four 4's, one 3 and ten 2's. Edwards, too, hit hard for his 17 runs, white Gray played nicely for his eleven. The following were the scores :~ CARTERTON. First innings 140 RIVAL. First innings 16 Sejoud Innings. Ericksen, G. Oliver, W. Martin, E. W. Nielsen. In the evening a social snd dance will be held at the Mauriceville Hall, to commence at 8 o'clock. The proceeds will be in aid of the Club funds. The Masterton Senior eleven will continue the match with Grey town on Saturday. The drag will leave at 1.30 p.m. sharp.
