CABLE RATES. SOME SUGGESTIONS. Received November 3, 10 a.m. MELBOURNE, November 3. The second annual conference of the Australian Country Press Association passed resolutions favouring:— (1.) A penny press cable rate. (2,) That a scheme for cabling Commonwealth news to the London papers at the Government's expense be developed, in the direction of having important news similarly wired from London to the Australian States, (3.) That the Commonwealth rate be reduced to the basis of the New Zealand rate. THE DAVIS CUP. Received November 3, 11.31 p.m. SYDNEY, November 3. The Australasian representatives to compete for the Davis Cup will be chosen from Brooks, Wilding, Parker, and Dunlop. HOT WEATHER IN SYDNEY. Received November 4, 1 a.m. SYDNEY, November 3. To-day waa a scorching day. The thermometer registered 95 in the I city, and in the country up to 106.
