Large constituencies—at least as large as four or five of the present electorates—are necessary for the equitable and successful operation of proportional representation, remarks the "Lyttelton Times," but it is absurd to say that these large constituencies would prevent young men getting an opportunity to take part in the public life of the Dominion. There are plenty of young men who would have a better chance ot election in appealing to a whole province than they would have in appealing to a single electorate, and we sincerely hope that before the next' General Election comes round proportional representation will be one of the most prominent planks in the Liberal platform. i
