"THE FATAL WEDDING."

Messrs Meynell and Gunn's Dramatic Company gave the final performance of the present season at the Town Hall last evening, when they staged "The Fatal Wedding." There was again a large audience, which the Company fully deserved. "The Fatal Wedding" had been produced before in Masterton, but there were many in the audience who came to renew their acquaintance with the touching melodrama. The "tincan band" alone is a comedy in itself, with pretty touches of pathos. The plot of the main theme was followed with the greatest interest, and applause was very frequent. The cast of characters was as follows :—Howard Wilson, a wealthy Clubman, Ernest Leicester; Robert Curtis, a man about town, F. Coape; Toto, a French butler, E. M. Keon; Peter Schwartz, janitor, C. R. Stanford; O'Reilly, one of the best, G. P. Carey; Rev. Dr Lanccford, Episcopal clergyman, H. S. Lewis; Cora Williams, Miss IdaGresham; Bridget, the lady cook, Miss Marion Norman; Jessie, the little mother, Miss Queenie Williams; Mabel Wilson, Howard's wiie, Miss Beatrice Holloway. Little Queenie Williams was a warm favourite, her vivacious and natural acting being as captivating as on the previous evening. Miss Marion Norman and Mr E. M. Keon took strong characters, while Miss Beatrice Holloway and Mr Ernest Leicester were both most successful. The acting of the schemers—Cora Williams and Robert Curtis—were very realistic. The orchestra deserve special mention, the scenery also being much above the average.
